Kick-off Meeting of the HEARAZ Research Advisory Board
The HEARAZ Research Advisory Board held its kick-off meeting on 11 December 2025 at the University of Oldenburg. The meeting marked the formal start of the Advisory Board’s work and brought together Advisory Board members, researchers, and doctoral candidates from the HEARAZ Graduate Research Training Group.
During the meeting, participants were introduced to the vision and interdisciplinary approach of HEARAZ, which focuses on the development of innovative “hearables” as personalized, ear-centered health technologies. Discussions addressed how such technologies may support perception, communication, and mobility beyond traditional hearing assistance, as well as the role of patient and public involvement in shaping research that is feasible, and sensitive to everyday needs.
Participants were given the opportunity to explore selected hearable technologies and to discuss practical, ethical, and social considerations, including usability, data handling, and acceptance. The kick-off concluded with shared agreements on collaboration, communication, and accessibility, as well as the scheduling of the next Advisory Board meeting in March 2026.
